Coach Shanna
I'm a self-taught basketball player, who spent many years on the court playing pick-up games in my community. I played varsity basketball in high school and then went onto play D2 college basketball. I've coached athletes and prepared them for competition through intense athletic and strength training. Hoopers Academy exists because it's the program I needed as a girl who loved basketball. We are here to inspire, motivate, and help shape the lives of girls who aspire to play basketball recreationally or competitively.
Coach Ken
As a Harlem native, member of the 2003 New York State championship Brooklyn Friends School basketball team, and proud girl-dad I have always been deeply connected to the game of basketball and recognize the need to create safe and welcoming spaces for girls to learn and grow in the game. As an educator and coach, I enjoy scaffolding and developing rigorous as well as individualized training sessions for our athletes, while also providing a supportive environment for them to develop and hone fundamental skills in order to take their game to new heights and levels of competition.
Coach Chris
With a strong foundation in basketball, I began my journey as a player with the Junior Knicks and later joined a team sponsored by Nike. My experiences on the court ignited a passion for coaching, where I now focus on developing young athletes' skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. I am dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment that encourages growth, both on and off the court. Through tailored training programs and a commitment to excellence, I aim to inspire the next generation of players to reach their full potential.
Coach Marisa
I am an incoming college freshman who will be playing Division 1 basketball at Yale University in the fall. Detroit, Michigan is my birth place, but I grew up in Upstate New York for 6 years. I was introduced to basketball when I was in 5th grade at my local YMCA, and loved the sport ever since. My passion for the game grew as I developed as a player. In the process, I was able to work with many professional trainers around the country. I discovered many key concepts and unique perspectives of playing this incredible game. Hoopers Academy gave me a great opportunity to teach lessons I've acquired from my basketball experiences.
